This is first draft of the By-laws that me and jimmy sat down and put together after looking at a lot of different clubs by-laws in the state. These have not been voted in. I am just posting up the first draft for feedback. Please feel free to post any comments. As I understand that this has been a hot topic if you do not want to post a comment on the forum feel free to PM any of the officers with your input. If you would please use the quote feature for any subject matter you are commenting about to keep the confusion to a minimum. These By-laws are intended to help the club run smoother not create any divisions:



By Laws
Article I Name of Club

This organization shall be known as the Lakeland Jeep Club (or interchangeably as the Club). The club mailing address is: Lakeland Jeep Club, P.O. Box 5282 Lakeland, Florida 33807. The club website is www.lakelandjeepclub.com


Article II Purpose

The Lakeland Jeep Club is a family oriented club for Jeep enthusiasts located in Florida. This organization is non-profit and was organized in November of 2006 for the purpose of social, recreational and educational activities designed to foster the enjoyment of off-road vehicles while protecting and preserving our natural resources. The Lakeland Jeep Club is committed to safe, responsible four wheeling and adherence to the principles of tread lightly.


Article III Membership & Dues

A. All members must be Jeep owners or the spouse of the owner, and all members must be at least 18 years of age with the exception of a legal driver license and signed parental waiver.

B. Each membership includes the member, and his/her immediate family who are not paid members may accompany the member to club activities. However, voting power and ability to hold an executive position within the club are restricted to each paid membership.

C. All club members must conduct themselves in a respectable and orderly fashion during all club activities.

D. Any member who fails to pay the agreed upon club dues may have his/her membership status suspended until payment is received. Upon the due date of a membership the member will receive notice by email, at 30 days delenquient member will receive 2nd notice, at 45 days member will receive final notice and if not paid within 60days of the due date his/her club membership may be cancelled. At the discretion of the officers of a club payment may be postponed due to extenuating circumstances.

E. Members of the club may bring non-members to certain club events. Let it be known that the member is responsible for the behavior of the non-member as well as their own during the event. Non-members attending events of the club must sign a Non-Member Waiver form prior to participating in the events.

F. All members must complete an official Lakeland Jeep Club application and submit it for approval prior to becoming a member. The Lakeland Jeep Club reserves the right to refuse membership to any applicant without explanation.

G. Any member who leaves the club due to joining any branch of the American Military may remain a member with his/her membership on hold. Upon return from active duty he/she will begin paying dues for the next year.


Article IV: Meetings

A. Official club meetings will be held as determined by the officers of the club. The location and the time will be determined and announced 30 days prior to the meeting.

B. Due to unforeseen circumstances meetings and trail rides are subject to change.


Article V: Vehicle Requirements

A. All vehicles regardless of year, make, or model must have proper safety equipment and be in compliance with the Traffic Laws of the State of Florida. All vehicles participating in club rides must have proof of current registration and insurance. All operators must have and possess a valid driver’s license. All vehicles must be equipped to the standard stated in the trail riding rules.

B. No firearms, as governed by federal, state, and local laws, are allowed on trail rides unless the member possessing the firearm is a sworn member of law enforcement and he/she is in compliance with state law or is in possession of a concealed weapons permit per--------.


Article VI: Substances

Alcohol, drugs, and other intoxicating substances will not be permitted on trail rides or in conjunction with any event that requires operation of a motor vehicle.


Article VII: Officers and Administrator

A. The officers of the Lakeland Jeep Club will consist of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The officers will be determined by vote of paid members.

B. All privileges and responsibilities inherent to the website can be taken away by the club website administrator or club president. Use of the club site should not be for the purpose to degrade any user or for content not related to the purpose of the club.

C. The officers and the web administrator hold their positions strictly as volunteers. The club will not pay any member or non-member to carry out functions of the club.


Article VIII: Waiver of Liability

A. Any member or non-member of Lakeland Jeep Club who participates in any event affiliated with the Lakeland Jeep Club does so at his/her own risk. He/she does not hold the club, its officers, and/or the administrator liable for any injury, loss, damages, or death that may occur.

B. It is understood that club events having to do with operation of one or more vehicles pose potential harm to persons and property, and it is understood that members and non-members participate in all events at their own risk.

C. All Lakeland Jeep Club members and non-members participating in club events agree to not hold the Lakeland Jeep Club liable for any loss, liability, damage, death, or cost they may incur due to such participation.


Article IX: Dispersion of Club Funds

Any two club Officers may authorize the usage of club funds for items not in excess of $250 for Club related purchases. Purchases in excess of $250 will be voted on at a membership meeting by the members of the club.


Article X: Amendments to the By-Laws

The By-Laws of the club may be amended pending approval of club officers and members.
